Apprenticeship – Video & Motion Graphics Assistant – Bristol

We are looking to take on our first apprentice to work in video production and motion graphics at our Bristol office. We are willing to train and nurture the right person with a view to long term employment.

Our management team were trained at the BBC, ITV and Endemol and are keen that newcomers to the industry are supported in a similar way.

Provision will be made for training and support but a good understanding of the production
process and applied working use of key software tools will be required in addition to good IT
skills generally.

Duties

Experience and training will be available in any/all the following areas depending upon the abilities and interests of the person appointed.
Assisting the editors
Digitising / transcoding
Data wrangling
Basic editing
Music / library searches
Encoding and uploading files for delivery

Assisting shoots
Camera kit prep
Location and studio running
Data wrangling

Supporting the production manager
Answering phones
General office duties
Schedules / call sheets
Research for shoots – Hotels / studios / locations

Future Possibilities

Tracking costs
Scheduling

Graphics
Basic Photoshop
Image prep and artworking
Internal motion graphics projects

Start and end time to suit (generally between hours of 8am and 6pm most days unless a project
demands otherwise)

Total hours to work – 38 p/ week

Creative and Digital Media Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

Part 1 – Preparing to Work in Creative Media

This six-unit certificate focuses on the workplace skills needed to get started in the Creative Media Industries, such as health and safety, forming productive working relationships, good professional behaviour and knowledge of the sector. Apprentices will gain these vital tools by analysing real-world businesses.

Part 2 – On the Job

Each qualification offers a broad range of units, including ones covering TV, film, games development, interactive and web media. The ability to carry out tasks within a role is learnt and assessed ‘on the job\\\’, though certain tasks may be realistically simulated where practical.
These are some examples of units which can be taken:

Freelance working
Production
Interactive media
Broadcast journalism
Camerawork
Design for the moving image
Editing for sound and video
Photo imaging
Radio production, writing, editing and presentation

Part 3 – Knowledge Building

The knowledge units consolidate ‘on the job\\\’ learning and deepen learners\\\’ understanding of a particular role or skill. They are taught and assessed in an academic setting such as a college or other training provider. Areas covered by this knowledge suite include:

Pre-production techniques
Asset manipulation
Digital special effects
3D character modelling
Sound special effects
Storytelling/narrative production
2D/3D game engines
Computer game concept art
Interactive multimedia design
Digital animation
Digital photography and graphics editing.

The training will take place around work patterns with the training provider, apprentice and employer working together to build a flexible timetable.

Apprentices will also learn key skills in areas like communication, teamwork, and health and safety. These skills contribute towards the apprentice\\\’s qualifications and also ensure that they develop a rounded understanding of working within the sector.

Apprentices will work towards the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Creative and Digital Media.
