Stereoscopic 3D video: Engineering

In a crowded exhibition and event space, engineering companies must work hard to cut through the noise and connect with their audience.

CPME, a global recycling technology company, came to us as they needed a way of making a big impact at RWM, a large waste management trade show. Our brief was to create something ‘different’ that would attract people to their stand.

3D video is an effective way of attracting and maintaining customers at an exhibition stand. Once audiences are wearing 3D glasses they are more than likely to stay until the end of the film. However, High Definition 3D filming is a fairly new technology and is normally only available to those with massive budgets or movie companies.

However, our workflows and proofing techniques deliver a 3D film to a new audience whilst keeping costs as low as possible. We worked with CP Europe to develop a stereoscopic 3D film that explained the workings of one of the recycling plants they had built and installed. The 3D film attracted potential clients to the stand again and again, and they even brought their colleagues to watch this must-see film.

Video production is not always enough and engineering firms should also think about an integrated content marketing plan. We worked to create marketing noise around the event by helping CPME produce 3D trailers in anaglyph on DVDs. This video was created like a movie trailer and generated excitement in the marketplace about what would be happening at the trade show. We mailed this anaglyph 3D promo with glasses and information about the event.

The results

A video marketing campaign with high impact, which met CPME's business objectives. Shot in high definition stereoscopic 3D with additional graphics created in Maya, the video was a huge success. The 3D film attracted potential clients to the stand again and again, and they even brought their colleagues to watch this must-see film.
