Capturing the planet at the crossroads – our video for IUCN’s global congress

28th February 2017

Team Hurricane is proud to have worked with our client, the IUCN once again, to create a film for  its “Planet at the Crossroads” environmental congress in Hawaii – its largest to date. To mark the first convention in the USA, this prestigious event was addressed by the former President of the United States, Barack Obama.

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a global NGO committed to protecting the environment. Last September, for 10 days the charity welcomed over 10,000 delegates from more than 180 countries. The congress brought together top scientists, academics, leaders and decision makers from governments, civil society, indigenous communities and the business world to discuss how together they could tackle the increasingly pressing challenges of climate change.

Our director flew out to Hawaii to help interview the delegates and direct the local film crew on the ground working alongside Ecodeo, the production crew who captured the Congress. We then took care of all of the post production, working closely with the IUCN team to edit and finesse the final film.

Watch the film now:

The congress comprised discussions around how nature could provide ways to mitigate against climate change, which was the focus of our previous video for the IUCN, turning complex stats into an engaging brand film for the defining environmental conference, COP 21 in Paris.

The video has been a huge success for the charity, and shared with its partners in order to maximise the impact of the event and highlight the urgency of tackling climate change.
